Robert, (Bobby) Monast Jr., age 61, North Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at the Hope Health Hulitar, Hospice Center. He was surrounded by his loving fiancé Kris Corrigan, and her mother Sheila, who provided him with the comfort and support after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer. Bobby was born and raised in Pawtucket, RI, where he developed a deep connection to his roots. He spent his entire life in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, creating fond memories in the communities that shaped him. A proud graduate of Shea High School in 1981, he earned the affectionate nickname “BUBBA” from family and friends, reflecting the warmth and kindness he shared with those around him. Bobby dedicated many years of his life to a successful career as a route salesman, working for several well-known companies, including Frito Lay Corp for 20yrs. His passion for the job was matched only by his love for the outdoors, especially fishing, where he found peace and joy in nature. Bobby was also an ardent animal lover, he and Kris shared 6 critters, 3 dogs and 3 cats, Ava, Luna, Jack, and Elliot, Paisley and Cosmo. Kris affectionally called him the MANNY, as he took care of everything. A true sports enthusiast, Bobby passionately supported his beloved New England sports teams, often engaging in friendly debates and discussions about their performances. He was also known as true lover of America and was unapologetic with his opinions of the world stage. He would willingly and often debate those who opposed his view as he passionately wanted a better life. He will be remembered for being bold and loud but extremely soft especially when it came to his great nieces and nephews. Bobby was famous for showering all his affections on his great nieces and nephews. Many social media post featured him exercising his great uncle bragging rights in true Bubba fashion.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A Monast Sr. and Ruth Mary (Taylor) Monast, whose love and guidance he cherished throughout his life. He leaves behind his devoted fiancé, Kris, whom he shared 10 beautiful years of love and companionship. Bobby is also survived by his daughter, Kirsten Monast, residing in Jacksonville, NC: his son, Grant; and his daughter, Paige, both of Norton MA. His family tree includes his beloved siblings: Mary Lou Monast of Pawtucket, David Monast of Orlando, FL, Carole Johnson of Pawtucket, and William Monast of Wilmington, NC. In addition to his immediate family, Bobby is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, and a large circle of close friend who were always inspired by his generosity and spirit.
Calling hours and a celebration of Bobby’s life will be held on Friday January 10th from 9:30am to 11:30am at Keefe Funeral Home located at 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, 359 Daggett Ave., Pawtucket RI. In lieu of flowers, his family encourages donations be made in Bobby’s name at a local animal shelter or the Hope Health Hulitar, Hospice Center, or a charity of your choice, as a testament to his lifelong commitment to helping those in need.
